Thank you Girl,
but let's be honest with our public and give a small extract of journalist's comment on me - she thinks that my outfit reminds sport tricot and makes me look like a tot.
Well, i`m taking it easy :) Whatever you say, Wrinklemina :D

Haha I didn't wanna mention that :D no offense, but everything she said is a bit ridiculous! Do you know her? :P

A weekend with an amplitude

Last weekend was crazy for me. I was at really underground party on Saturday and hight society event on Sunday.
As you might know, I Boy has been invited to Bogdan Taran's birthday party. To tell the truth there were two parties - unofficial at home (with delicious food and very nice people), and official in fabulous underground club SPACE:GARAGE (http://fuckforfriendship.com//).

Being DJ #1 in Latvia (and he still is in my and other hearts despite the fact that this year according to bloody DJtop.lv he`s only on 4th place. WHATEVER. Bogdan is still the best) Bogdan knows how to arrange fun and play a good music. The club was fully packed and everyone had fun, warming up by Dj Zazzy, a set by Bogdan Taran himself and a version of modern house by Dj Hiro from Glasgow. I had a great time and partied late.
Despite the fact, that alcohol is quite cheap in SPACE:GARAGE i hadn't any hangover next morning. Sunday was beautiful and very promising, because I had a ticket to our National Opera. Yes, me, Boy is also into THAT things, i`m not saying that i`m an expert, but i`m quite advanced beginner.
Ok, now a bit about opera, which I saw this Sunday. Werther is an opera by Jules Massenet based on novel The Sorrows of Young Werther by Goethe. I won`t paraphrase it, and libretto to Werther is easily found in the Internet. Just to tell, this is a story of a stupid young lady - Charlotte, who gave a promise to her dead mother that she`ll marry a guy Albert, who`s rarely at home. While Albert was somewhere, Charlotte meets Werther. They both fall in love with each other, but Charlotte has to keep her promise to mother. Drama-rama and eventually Werther kills himself. This is not a piece what I'd recommend.
I'm not familiar with Goethe's The Sorrows of Young Werther, but this novel was a great hit in second half of XVIII century and has a great impact on that time's society.
However, director Andrejs Žagars has done a great job. This is not the first experience with Massenet's Werther for Žagars - nearly a year ago Žaragrs staged Werther at Erfurt Opera (Germany), and as he admitted to Diena (national daily newspaper) he wasn't free in his decisions and Charlotte's role was playing some not-really-young singer. But here in Riga he had a great opportunity to work with experienced and professional artists tenor Hector Sandoval from Mexico, Xavier Moreno tenor from Spain, soprano Amsika Grigorjan and young soloists, who just has started their career - Olga Jakovļeva and Ieva Parša. And they were really good, both professionals and youngsters.

Amsika Grigorjan&Hector Sandoval

Dear followers Opera is a great entertainment - not only singers, sets, orchestra, conductor and music, but also people around. Next time i`ll take camera with me and post dos and don'ts visiting opera!

Latvian Designers at Finish store

Latvian Top Designer finality has been noticed by retailers! Hurray for that!
There is shop called Stockmann, originating fro Finland and established in 1862 and now with shops on Russia, Latvia, Estonia and Finland. For ones, who don`t know Stockmann for Finland and Baltic states is like Harrod's for British.
I`m very happy that the shop with Latvijas modes fonds (Latvian Fashion Fund) cooperation has organized Latvian Fashion Designer month. During this month you can buy Latvian Designers clothes at that store! Unfotunatly we, Girl and Boy couldn't attend the oppening even, however soon we are going to visit local designers and their studios. But you can check out  Ingrīda Dārzniece, Natālija Jansone, Anna Led, Baiba Ripa, KatjaKatja Shehurina, Inese Lapsiņa un Frazzo by Alexander Pavlov collections at Stockmann.
We keep our fingers crossed for Latvian Fashion, tough prices could be more friendly...

******************
Actually, today I went to Stockmann to check out the collection and I instantly fell in love with 3 garments – pink blouse with sculptured shoulders and grey/black knitted dress by Natalija Jansone and just perfect black jumpsuit by KatjaKatja Shehurina. Of course, I tried everything on and guess what all pieces looked sooo cool and I felt so special wearing Latvian designers. I even tried them on more carefully than I’ve ever done with any other thing.  I’m in love. I wouldn’t say that prices are super high (but higher than average) however it depends on designer. Price range for things I tried on was between 62Ls (blouse) and 140Ls (jumpsuit) however I saw skirts for 400Ls or so too. Now I’m seriously considering buy something from Latvian designers, it just feels so fashion-forward and right.
Btw why Stockmann doesn’t sell Latvian designers’ collections permanently? Ehhhh I would like that!
What's your thoughts buying & wearing brands "Made in Latvia"?

Happy Birthday, Girl!!!

Today Girl has a birthday. But it`s also Friday (we still have to work, no alco at all till 19:00, just fabulous chocolate-banana-coffee smoothie). So Girl has invited Boy for a birthday lunch at restaurant K.I.D. (we usually have lunches here, coz the atmosphere is quite relaxing and you can escape from crazy city rhythm and it has nothing to do with kids).

Being fashionistas we couldn't avoid a chat about last week's event - Riga Fashion Week. As Boy has his laptop with him, we decided to make a "hot-spot-fashion-spreads" of RFW catwalks.

Darling Girl, i wish you lots of love and luck and let your closet dreams come true!

P.S.
Tomorrow is another Birthday. DJ #1 in Latvia, Bogdan Taran celebrates his 33rd anniversary. Of course we are invited :D

Hello Kitty! Hello 35!

Everyone knows Hello Kitty. For most of us it`s  white she-cat with a red ribbon on a gigantic head, who`s (or what`s ) logo is printed on different kinds of surface - pen cases, all kinds of boxes, undies, bras, toilet paper etc., Just name it!
As Hello Kitty became popular in 1987 for general public, not everyone knows from where this creature came.

It may not surprise you that she was designed by Japanese Designer Yuko Yamaguchi in 1974, and Kitty's first appearance was on a plastic coin purse. What may surprise you, that she has her ow biography, and according to that her full name is Kitty White, she lives in London (!) and enjoys to bake cookies and collect small cute things, like stars, fishes and other crap. Being a decent British, she has a good family: Father Georg, Mother Marry, and her sister Mimmy (verrry British) who also happened to be her best friend (!) (strange, i hated my sis, when we were kids).

Kitty stayed infamous till mid 80`s, and company who owns the brand has decided to that it`s time for Kitty to grow up and redesigned her in to black and white rendering, which they believed will appeal to older audience. And some how it has worked, there even were several movies with Hello Kitty and according to time.com: "Kitty got her biggest boost when she was adopted by A-list celebrities like Mariah Carey and Paris Hilton, who accessorized with a Kitty clutch at a book signing in 2004". What a bullocks - before the audience of Hello Kitty was 10-12, and after "a plastic surgery"  in 1987 it appealed to Mariah Carey and Paris Hilton?! Certainly older audience, but it doesn't mean mentally stable.
There were a lot of events and thing connected with this Kitty - weddings, special maternity hospital designed a la Hello Kitty and even a $150,000 doll covered with gems.

Yes, there is always a little child inside of each of us, but there has to be some limits too, unless you style icon is Mariah or Paris...But anyway let`s celebrate Kitty's mid age and look forward to Hello anti-aging Kitty with whole line of relevant products :) How about botox syringe with a smiling Kitty on it?!

---------------------------------------------------

Honestly, I hate Hello Kitty. I don't even know why. Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaak! I think it's genetic or some kind of "Hello Kitty hater's" bacteria. All I can think is yaaaak eeeeeeeew yaaaaak... However I'm intrigued seeing botox(ed) Kitty. Even bigger and flatter face? yaaaaaaak!!! And here goes one fashion faux pas - yaaaaaaaaaaak (Goodbye Kitty!)
