Big Race - 3rd day RFW

You know, fashion week is like a race – we are running all around the city trying to cover everything – presentations, shows, performances, competitions etc. It’s a lot. And yesterday wasn’t exception.
Our first fashionable stop was at BABA store & Jacob Davis Jeans Factory (Kossmoss) where guys are making custom-made jeans and other denim garments. Pretty cool, huh?
Second stop was at Frey Wille - lovely jewelry shop. As a Girl and Boy are huge fans of Frey Wille, we enjoyed glass of wine and had a small talk with Frey Wille shop manger Liene (btw stay tuned to learn her style advice). Overall atmosphere was friendly and relaxed and we just couldn’t take our eyes of those little shiny things J
Next we were running to PAVILJONS (brand represented by 10 new Latvian designers). Their spring summer 2010 collection was inspired by market and its multicultural environment. There were dresses with large tulle decorations, black, grey and neon colors; relaxed suits and funny t-shirts for guys. I liked the show; collection was fresh, happy and very wearable. I felt spring in the air.

And then came the show I was waiting the most – KatjaKatja Shehurina. Have you read the story behind the collection at RFW webpage? Haven’t? Here you go:
It all started with a European Nobel Princess who found herself shipwrecked in an African territory. With time and effort our princess begins to learn the local language and understand the cultures intense tie to nature.  After discovering that some of her dresses have survived the disaster, our princess begins to combine her new ethnic understanding of fashion with her traditional dresses and she fears nothing.  It is easy to be different from others – she is a part of another culture and world-view, and it warms up the interests of aborigines. A shining sun intensifies her colors. Silks shrouding the body remind her of a luxurious life. Now she is so free! It is possible to be that she desires set and go beyond the stereotypes of modern society. And to remember: in Africa everything only begins…
The collection was colorful and ethnic with a modern twist, patterned jumpsuits, matching jewelry and head scarves by Frey Wille, beautiful floaty mini and maxi dresses, ruffled skirts, chic and elegant Aladin-ish pants (gosh, I totally forgot what was the name of those pants. Somebody remind me, please). And I totally fall in love with the huge necklace from the first look, African patterns, white top with aligator decoration and the WEDDING DRESS.  Note to myself – if I ever get married – I want dress like that. :)

Max Chernitsov (Russia). Well, I’m gonna be honest, I’m not the fan of such a style, too much mix&match for guys. Yes, collection was provocative, ironic and rebellious and I think that's the only reason why Max Chernitsov got his fame. It's not that much about fashion, innovative design or artistic creation but more about his ironic ideas and the way of communication. For me, the funniest part was the girls who were screaming and wowing when seeing models in underwear. C’mon that’s not cool :) BUT I think I would die laughing if I ever see the guy in real life wearing underwear with printed dynamite on it!

Yes, girl! We are racing for the fashion and there was and will be a lot to catch. I knew that KatjaKatja Shehurina`s collection has something to do with Africa and post-luxury life. THE collection was complete by all meanings - starting with a red dress (the one, which is on Agnese Zeltiņa for RFW ad), continuing with skirts and   Croco-(!)-print-tees, long dresses, leggings and harem pants, and shiny cocktail-dresses and tops, finally ending with a bride, which was like a cherry on top, delicious!. Everything was stating the fact, that Miss Shehurina is a mature designer, who can put a story into clothes. Katja, thank you very much for a great story, which i understood from the very begging!
Girl already mentioned about Frey Wille event, Jacob Davis Jeans Factory (Kossmoss) (now we know everything about jeans. wait for a separate post) and Paviljons catwalk and i have nothing to add. While Girl was embarrassed by the reaction on semi-naked models (so why they were screaming? were models good or bad, or were that drunk ladies from the 2nd row), i, Boy dashed to MOMENT. The venue was great. Just to heat it up and tease y`all a bit - the whole event was held in Europe`s tallest TV tower.  Stay tuned for more information.
